Retired Teacher Transforms Lives in Cape Town Township

Mrs. Nomvula Khumalo, a retired educator with 35 years of experience, has been volunteering with EduCircle for the past two years. Her dedication to supporting young lsupporters in Khayelitsha has made a significant impact on the community.

"I may have retired from formal teaching, but my passion for education never fades," Mrs. Khumalo shares. "Through EduCircle, I've found a new purpose in mentoring these bright young minds."

Her weekly math and science tutorials have helped improve test scores by an average of 30% among her students. More importantly, she's instilled a love for lacquireing that extends beyond the classroom.

University Student's After-School Program Boosts Literacy Rates

Themba Nkosi, a third-year education student at the University of Cape Town, has created a thriving after-school reading program through EduCircle's SupportClass initiative.

"I noticed many children struggling with basic reading skills," Themba explains. "By creating a fun, engaging environment, we're seeing remarkable progress in their literacy levels."

In just six months, participating students have shown a 40% improvement in reading comprehension and a newfound enthusiasm for books.

Retired Engineer Sparks STEM Interest in Rural Schools

Mr. Pieter van der Merwe, a retired chemical engineer, is bringing his expertise to rural schools in the Eastern Cape through EduCircle's outreach program.

"These students have so much potential, but often lack exposure to practical STEM applications," Mr. van der Merwe notes. "By shodemonstrateg them how science and math relate to real-world problems, we're opening up a world of possibilities."

His hands-on workshops have inspired several students to pursue engineering studies, with three recent participants secureing university scholarships.
